Stephen E.
Saunders, M.D., MPH, is the Medical Advisor for the Illinois Department of
Healthcare and Family Services, Division of Medical Programs.  Dr. Saunders is in a lead position at HFS,
responsible for implementing the risk-based disease management initiative and
primary care case management model, both components of the All Kids program.  Dr. Saunders is involved in a number of other
medically related projects in the Department including a project designed to
improve birth outcomes.  Dr. Saunders is
a board certified pediatrician and received his medical degree from the
University of California and his Master in Public Health from Harvard
University.  He is the immediate past
president of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of
Pediatricians.
