John Morrison
John Morrison is the Montana State Auditor and Insurance Commissioner. He led the creation of Insure Montana, which provides affordable health coverage to 10,000 small business employees. Mr. Morrison is Chairman of the ballot initiative campaign to create “Healthy Montana Kids,” which will cover nearly all of Montana’s 34,000 uninsured children. A former Chair of NAIC’s Health Insurance and Managed Care Committee, Commissioner Morrison led national movements to ban discretionary clauses from employee benefit plans and crack down on fake health insurance schemes. He created a premium assistance plan for Montana’s high risk health pool and worked with Senator Max Baucus to fund similar plans in other states. Commissioner Morrison has testified before both houses of Congress and his work has been covered by many national publications. Prior to holding public office, Mr. Morrison was a practicing attorney who represented Montana in the state’s tobacco case.
